Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition Schedule
The 7th Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (7th IREC) will be held June 21-23, 2012 (with June 24 as a weather backup day): Thursday, June 21:
8:00-9:00 AM Registration, John Wesley Powell Museum Basement Meeting Room
9:00 AM- 12:00 PM Presentations
12:00 -1:30 PM Lunch (on your own)
1:30 - 5:00 PM Presentations
5:00 - 7:00 PM "Sneak Preview" of launch site for those interested
Friday, June 22:
7:00 AM Meet at Museum, weather observation
7:30 AM "Convoy" to launch site if weather is acceptable
8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Launches
Saturday, June 23:
7:00 AM Meet at Museum, weather observation
7:30 AM "Convoy" to launch site if weather is acceptable
8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Launches
6:30 PM Awards Banquet, Powell Museum Basement Meeting Room
Sunday, June 24:
Saturday's schedule if needed as a backup
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Please bring your rockets to the Museum on Thursday for a group picture.
Please bring your own lunches to the launch site. Lunch will be provided by ESRA to recruiter/judges and invited guests.
The launch range closes at 4:30 PM on Saturday (teams MUST LAUNCH by that time). If your rocket launches at the last minute and lands very far away, no judges may be willing to trek out on ground recovery (and that is THEIR call; they need to tabulate results and select winners before the Awards Banquet). You may not be awarded any points for maximum altitude, or have the judges inspect your rocket for recovery points (reflyable condition). You may get lucky and have it land close by, but do you want to take that chance? Moral of the story: have your rocket as ready to launch as possible when you arrive at the IREC!
Sunday is a backup--we have not had to use it yet in previous IRECs but there's always a first time! You should try to build some flexibility into your travel plans in case we have to extend to Sunday.
