ESRA Live Stream Team Videos
ESRA will again be live streaming the 2024 IREC. Teams will be asked to submit a video before the event in two parts. A full version and a shorter version, only including introductions for the college, team name, and team leads. As we need these videos before the competition, they do not count as a submission to the video challenge. However, being the efficient future engineer that you are, students are highly encouraged to use the same video and splice in the launch footage and some event footage into the existing video, then submit as the video Challenge.
DELIVERABLES (2 Videos)
We would like the teams to break their videos into 2 deliverables, the Introduction video, and then the general team video.
1) The Introduction video should just be the first part of your team video. You can re-edit it a bit if needed, but it should be no longer than 30 seconds. The video should contain your University name, Team/Project Name, and the introductions of your key leads of the project. This will be used to play before you rocket launch, so think about how sports does a quick lineup of your team right before the game starts.
2) The Team video is the 2-5 min video which will be used in the live stream. (May be played at the Awards banquet for winning teams). Keep in mind that most content creators will recommend that promo videos and most content does not exceed the 2-3 min videos. It is very difficult to keep the attention span of the typical viewer. It is preferred that your team keep the video closer to 2-3 mins, but we also didn't want to tie your hands if your project warrants the extra two mins.
NOTE: Avoid placing text in the upper corners of the video as we will put live range footage, and logos on the top corners during the live stream.

Deadline: 3 June 2024
We need the videos before June 3rd, 2024 to be sure we can review and organize the content. If you have inappropriate content, or your content could use some constructive feedback, we will reach out to you unless there is not enough time before the event, in which case we will not use the video content.
Videos received after June 3rd are likely be included, but will be reviewed and assessed only as we have time.

Tips on Audio
Ultimately you need to ensure you and ESRA have the rights to use the music. Below are some tips on places to find audio. If your music fails to follow YouTube Guidelines, we will not be able to share your content. Feel free to try an upload to your own account and see if YouTube flags the content before submitting.
When to use background audio tracks? Well any part of your video can and should have something. A video of talking heads can get boring. While some speakers are gifted and don't need background audio, music can help give that extra touch. Just placing an audio at super low volume behind talking can really help spice up the content. Don't drown out your voices, but something to cover up outside noise, or that pesky static/gain that comes from some microphones. Also, be careful not to jump volume too suddenly. See the end of our 2019 IREC video where we kept the music but added several team's audio.

A Couple quick tips:
- YouTube Studio - Anyone with a google or YouTube account can go to YouTube Studio and download any royalty free music from their library.
- TheFatRat - Creates content for gamers to use when live streaming. No cost, just credit them. Some songs can be found on YouTube Studio but I have used several of their songs on multiple projects.
