Latest Updates

Congratulations to all of the teams that came to the 2016 IREC! You helped us have the biggest and best IREC yet. This year ESRA hosted 52 teams and about 560 people!! We would also like to thank our fantastic sponsors and volunteers for supporting us, we couldn't have done it without you!!!

Detailed Score Breakdown

The excel file here contains all of the sub-category score totals for each team. Feel free to download this file and see where you ranked under each category. Below is a basic description of what was being evaluated in each category.

Deliverables:
As files were handed in a small score was given to each file. Most files were graded on a scale of 1 to 3 with a multiplication factor applied to account for the importance of the file.

Project Report
Project reports were scored based on timeliness, quality, completeness, and analysis.

Presentation
Presentation was scored based on timeliness, quality, presentation skills, technical knowledge, and teamwork. timeliness was based on your digital delivery, and quality was focused on your presentation materials.

Technical Application
Technical application was a score representing whether or not the components of your rocket were student designed and built, and how well your engineering analysis supported your design.

Pre-flight Evaluation
A portion of the 50 points was given at each evaluation done at the judges tent. if you failed on the first evaluation, you did not get the points back on final attempt.

Safety and Operations
Every team started with 100 points for safety and operations. Each time an infraction was made for one of the following categories Safety, Preparedness\Efficiency, Sportsmanship\Respect, and Pad Operations, 5 points were removed form your score.

Rocket Performance
In addition to altitude, points were also awarded if you had a stable assent, and percent of your vehicle that was re-flyable. Points were also awarded if you had a scientific or engineering payload/mission and reported back a mission success.
